Ever thought what it would be like to have all the main holidays of the year in one weekend.
Well we did just that.
Over the weekend Rosyth District held the usual St Georges Day weekend camp.
16 members from the District met at Fordell Firs to celebrate St George (patron Saint of Scouting)
On the Friday night after the site was set up it was time to start our themed weekend.
First of was Shrove Tuesday – We had a pancake Party but it was soon clear to see that cooking was not what the explorers were good at. Most of the pancakes looked like Scrambled eggs. Lucky for us their stomachs were not left empty as we had made the provision of bringing Hot Dogs for Supper.
Saturday started of with Easter – we started off with Painting and rolling eggs down the hill, even our DC took part.
After this the explorers went and did an Easter egg hunt round the site.
We finished the season with making Easter candles.
Next celebration was Summer Holidays – It was a chill session with a BBQ and Games
(Mostly we got the kites and Parachute out to have some fun!)
We quickly moved on to Halloween - The Explorers got dressed up and went Trick and Treating round the rest of the district.
(They even managed to get some treats into the bargain.) They also did the traditional Dunking for apples.
It was an early Dinner as we were off the Stock Car Racing at Cowdenbeath.
When we got back it was on to Bonfire night – We had a camp fire which even had a Guy to put on to it.
Sunday Morning Came and it was Christmas Day – We exchanged presents,
Had a good Breakfast and even went up to Flag break dressed as Santa’s.
We also had 5 New Explorers who got invested (Yes you guessed it in Santa Suits) As all good thing have to come to an end so did our year.
We were joined by the beavers to celebrate New Year.
They were told a New Year story and we saw in the bells with Shortbread and Irn Bru.
Once the site was cleared we joined the rest of the District to have our St Georges Day Church Service in which we renewed our Promise.
After this we all went home – very tired but very happy after such a great weekend.
