Chief Scout Expedition 30th May 08

Over the weekend 30th May – 1st June.

Members of the unit went away to do their Chief Scout Platinum Expedition.

We left on the Friday night on high spirits as we headed up to St Andrews.

Once we found our home for the next 2 nights and settled in, It was time to go and Explore the surrounding area.

We went away and did some rock scrambling for a hour and even managed to find some of the wildlife trying to earn some sleep.

We woke up on the Saturday fresh and ready to accept the challenge ahead.

The idea was to walk from St Andrews Castle to the Ness which was 10 miles and then back again using the coastal path. The day started of well and we made good pace but after a while with the sun/heat and the terrain the pace had slowed and we had to take several breaks.

They even found a river to walk through (Thinking they were Bear Grylls).

After we finally arrived back at the hall and a hearty meal it was down to doing some route planning which most had never done before.

With every one shattered it was of to bed early so we could be fresh for the next day.

Sunday came and with sore feet we put our boots on again and set of for our final destination.

The Train Home

We got just a short distance when we noticed that both teams were out getting ready for the Curtis Cup on the golf course, So we stopped a while to watch, then it was off again.

We made good time and arrived at Guardbridge by 10.30am where we had another break.

Then it was on to the last stretch to the train station.

We arrived in plenty time for the train. We arrived back to Inverkeithing station at 2pm to be collected.

The party very tired but happy that they had completed the trip.
